Not to inflict punishment on the Sabbath day, as it is said, “Ye shall kindle no fire in all your habitations (on the Sabbath day)”**Capital punishment by burning could not be inflicted on the Sabbath, and therefore no punishments are inflicted on that day. (Ex. 35:3).
